About Cadre

Nineteen years. One specialty. Fifteen people, tops.

Cadre was founded in 2007 on a bet that still holds: a small team that does exactly one thing — software engineering recruiting for high-growth startups — will beat a big team that does everything. The bet has survived three market crashes, two hiring bubbles, and the AI wave that’s currently rewriting what startups need.

Cadre is the boutique recruiting firm high-growth startups rely on to hire the software engineers everyone else is fighting for — deliberately small, ruthlessly high-signal, and accountable to a number: 84% of the candidates we submit, you’ll want to interview. We work these roles all day, every day, so our judgment compounds. And every engineer we introduce has reviewed your company and explicitly chosen to meet you.

Why small, on purpose

Every recruiting firm says quality over quantity. We built the constraint into the company: fifteen recruiters or fewer, forever. Small means every search gets senior attention. Small means we can decline searches we can’t produce on — and we do. And small means our judgment compounds instead of diluting: the same people, working the same kinds of roles, for nineteen years, with every submission and interview outcome feeding the systems we’ve built along the way.

It also means we’re honest about what we’re not. We’re not a volume shop, not an RPO, and not the cheapest option. We’re the call you make when the role actually matters.
